Practice in all 12 keys: A chromatic harmonica contains all twelve notes of the scale and, therefore, we have no reason not practice at least several keys! In jazz, the most common key signatures used are Bb, Eb, Ab, C, F, and G!
Repetition: Repeat one line as much as you to need to memorize it.
Hydration: A dry mouth is something you want to avoid during a practice session or at a concert. That’s why I always have a glass of water nearby and drink regularly. It enables the mouth to reject bacteria and to make sliding the harmonica mouthpiece more easily over the lips.
Octave: You can start most lines at different octaves on the harmonica depending of course if you are using a 12, 14 or 16 hole model.
( ) The numbers between parenthesis indicate a draw note.
+ The sign “plus” in front a number indicates the slide is in.
